Santa Maria Valley, the California Central Coast’s wine and barbecue destination, is offering $100 gift cards to the first 500 visitors to book a two-night stay at a qualifying lodging property between Sunday and Thursday.

Santa Maria Valley is inviting people to break free from the year-end hustle and take a “Midweek Break,” offering travelers $100 to relax, recharge and repay themselves. Following the overwhelming success of its Stimulus campaign, this Central Coast destination is the gift that keeps on giving—literally.

The first 500 visitors to book their Midweek Break will be eligible to receive a $100 Visa gift card after booking a two-night stay at a qualifying lodging property between Sunday and Thursday. The trip must be between Oct. 15, 2023, and Jan. 31, 2024, and the reservation must be made before Sept. 30, 2023, and submitted through a form found on Santa Maria Valley’s website to qualify.

“In Santa Maria Valley, $100 goes further than it would in other wine destinations,” said Jennifer Harrison, director of tourism for Visit Santa Maria Valley. “We’re excited to once again put our money where our mouth is and prove that people get more for their money in Santa Maria Valley. As a bonus, we get to continue supporting our local businesses, who often see a drop in midweek traffic after schools start back up and people resume their routines.”

According to Bankrate, the majority of Americans (at least 80%) are making changes to their vacations in order to be more practical with their budgets. Some are seeking less expensive accommodations and/or destinations, while others are taking fewer or shorter trips.

“People need to be reminded to take a pause, invest in themselves and take that much-needed vacation—while not letting any hard-earned PTO go to waste,” said Harrison. “With the price hikes we’ve seen taking place in different areas of the travel industry, Santa Maria Valley remains a true value for visitors and whether you’re traveling with friends, family, or flying solo—the break people need is right here.”

The numbers show that in Santa Maria Valley, people can eat, drink and do more for less. In comparison to Paso Robles, Napa Valley or Temecula, a stay in Santa Maria Valley saves hundreds of dollars, which leaves a lot more money to sip on world-class wines or get a taste for famous Santa Maria-style barbecue.

Take a Midweek Break enjoying central coast vineyards, tantalizing dining options, incredible scenery and more—visit santamariavalley.com/midweek.

Worthwhile Wear’s 2023 Act Challenge

Worthwhile Wear’s 2023 Act Challenge was open to any and all participants. Over 850 people completed miles to raise awareness of the issue human trafficking by running, biking, walking, swimming and paddling

On July 30, we recognized “World Day Against Trafficking” and on that same day Worthwhile Wear released the results of the national “Act Challenge.” Participants and supporters from all over the globe logged miles in their communities and raised awareness about human trafficking with their actions by completing more than 192,000 miles. Worthwhile Wear operates a variety of restorative programs supporting survivors of trafficking and created the “Act Challenge” as a way for the larger community to get involved. “When people hear about human trafficking, they want to act and get involved, so we created a way for people of all ages, abilities and locations to join with us in providing care to survivors, while also raising awareness about this growing issue,” shared Dan Emr, Founder and Executive Director of Worthwhile Wear. As the challenge ran from May 1st to July 30th, individuals, groups, businesses, schools, churches and people from all over joined the mission by unlocking pledged dollars with every mile logged. Through the generosity of the Act Challenge sponsors and the efforts of all those who logged miles, over $102,000 was raised through the event which in turn will enable Worthwhile Wear to continue providing community outreach, long-term housing, employment, counseling, and restorative services to survivors of human trafficking. Since over 40 million people are trafficked worldwide, many survivors do not have access to resources for dealing with trauma, abuse, and addiction. Worthwhile Wear is forging a path for everyone to be a part of the solution. Dan Emr, Executive Director and Founder of Worthwhile Wear, is available for in-person or virtual interviews to discuss this event and the issue of human trafficking. Visit www.WorthwhileWear.org to learn more.

Worthwhile Wear is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to reaching lives affected by human trafficking and restoring these survivors with a sense of belonging and worth. The road to healing requires a comprehensive response. It’s not enough to offer a single solution, which is why Worthwhile Wear first engages survivors where they are, in our communities, then offers long-term stability with safe housing, and finally provides them with opportunities for financial independence by employment through its thrift stores. This wraparound approach is how Worthwhile Wear offers the most comprehensive services to survivors of trafficking in the state of Pennsylvania.

Colossal Management is thrilled to renew the hugely successful fundraising campaign Fab Over 40 in 2023. The Colossal fundraising platform is a powerful alternative method for charities to raise money and awareness for their organizations. Fab Over 40 is a Colossal competition that brings together thousands of women over 40 who are ready to flaunt their stuff and vie for the grand prize of $40,000, a featured profile in NewBeauty magazine, and the spa-cation of a lifetime while also supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

Colossal x National Breast Cancer Foundation

Last year, Colossal and Fab Over 40 raised over $7.4 million that ultimately benefited NBCF! The grant presented to NBCF by Colossal’s partner DTCare was able to fund programs and services focused on education, detection, navigation, and inspiration for individuals facing breast cancer and their families. With the grant, the NBCF navigated 51,047 patients, provided breast health education to 16,137 women, provided 9,771 mammograms, delivered 6,745 HOPE Kits, served 1,721 women through community outreach, and more.

“Breast cancer’s impact reverberates across the globe, touching lives in various ways – as mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, or through personal struggles. Helping raise money to benefit this urgent cause is the driving force behind the Fab Over 40 Competition. Along with that, the Colossal team loves uniting mature women for this campaign because, as we have seen over the last two years, they empower one another and celebrate the unique journeys that unfold after reaching the significant milestone of 40 years. Collectively, we create a meaningful impact year after year,” says Colossal CEO Mary Hagen.

Fab Over 40 Special Guest Appearance: Dolores Catania

Colossal is proud to welcome “Miss Congeniality” of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Dolores Catania, to make her Fab Over 40 debut as a featured guest. Competitors will gain access to an exclusive interview with Catania, learning how she thrives as she navigates this stage of her life.

April Wilcox, an aesthetics nurse from Edmond, OK, is the reigning queen bee of the Fab Over 40 competition. Check out her feature in NewBeauty magazine. The 2021 winner, Teri Coleman, is a prime example of living young, wild, and free at any age.
