Fathom.fm is disrupting the podcast player ecosystem again by introducing more powerful AI functionality into the podcast listener’s experience. With Fathom, listeners get more out of their podcasts, especially those who like to “go deeper”.
When first launched in 2022, Fathom listeners could effortlessly discover new podcasts using a feed of podcast “highlights”—AI-generated previews of podcasts tailored to their interests by Fathom’s AI. Listeners could also ask natural questions such as “How can I improve my focus?” or “What is the future of AI?” and instantly listen to short clips from podcasts that answer the question.
Now Fathom has been completely re-designed to include both game-changing features (like creating custom clips and AI chapters) and daily driver features (downloads, much faster UI), so Fathom easily replaces listeners’ go-to daily podcast player. Let’s dig into what’s in this new redesign:
Clip sharing
Fathom’s podcast player will now allow users to create custom “clips” so that they can share their favorite moments with friends. Fathom uses “smart clipping” AI technology to automatically capture the main idea of that moment, so listeners can confidently save the right moments with just a tap.
Chapters
Listeners can now easily browse chapters defined by podcasters or using Fathom’s dynamically-generated chapters. Fathom’s chapters are generated in an intelligent way, based on the ideas within the podcasts. Listeners will be able to instantly swipe through any episode’s chapters to get an idea of what it’s all about.
Transcripts
Listeners can now browse a podcast’s entire transcript (generated by AI). Reading a long podcast is as intuitive as skimming through an essay or a book.
Power Drawer
From anywhere on the home screen, listeners can now easily pull down a “power drawer” that contains all of their favorite podcasts, all of the episodes they haven’t finished, and all of their “stations”, which are custom feeds of podcast highlights to help listeners discover podcasts in more personalized ways.
For those already experienced with Fathom’s player, they’ll find a multitude of improvements that have hit every part of the app, including improvements to search and recommendations, episode downloads, a sleep feature, and new episode notifications.

Fathom.fm Launches New Version of Revolutionary AI-Powered Podcast Player—Now With ‘More Future’
Recent release “Unaltered Time: Book 1, Ascali” from Newman Springs Publishing author Joe Reyes is a thrilling tale set within the capital city of Ascali, where a tournament shall determine who will serve as the protector of the new king of the realm. Stepping up to the plate is the famous White Knight, Sir Jason, who is ready to prove himself worthy of such a high honor, no matter who or what stands in his way.
WAYNE, N.J. – January 6, 2023 – (Newswire.com)
Joe Reyes has completed his new book “Unaltered Time: Book 01, Ascali”: a stirring fantasy adventure that follows a legendary knight in his quest to win the coveted role of protecting his new king, following the tragic death of the former monarch.
“For decades in the timeline, the realm has thrived in joyful peace, embracing luxuries and euphoric ways of living which seem will be everlasting to its people,” writes Reyes. “This seemingly endless happiness among the folk may soon come to an end, now that the king has passed, to be burned and buried to rest.
“In the heart of the realm sits the capital city Ascali, where the cold, Golden Throne awaits its new ruler, someone much younger and perhaps more wise, or perhaps maybe not.
“Sir Jason, the famous White Knight of the city, is prepared to battle his way through the upcoming Ascali arena tournament, determined to win the title reward as protector of this new, mysterious king; the next and new king who’ll sit the Golden Throne in the city of Ascali.”
Joe Reyes’s spellbinding novel is the first entry in the author’s “Unaltered Time” epic and takes readers on an unforgettable journey full of intricate and detailed world-building. Expertly paced and full of suspense, “Ascali” will leave readers on the edge of their seats as Sir Jason fights for the honor of serving the new king, risking it all in the process.
Readers who wish to experience this enthralling work can order “Unaltered Time: Book 01, Ascali” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iBooks Store, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble.

Following a national trend in recent years, foresighted couples and singles have begun jockeying for positions on waitlists at Life Plan Communities like Southminster when they reach their late-60s or 70s, instead of their 80s. In order to embrace this evolution and remain on the leading edge of senior living in the Sunbelt city of Charlotte, Southminster has strategically analyzed and anticipated evolving demographic demand and embarked on a well-thought-out eight-year expansion journey.
In 2020, it completed its first three-phase expansion that included Embrace Health at Southminster, a new person-centered model for higher levels of care. According to Mary Cooper, Chief Operating Officer, who championed this new model of care early on, “The neighborhood design of our small-house model ensures that residents and families always remain central to decision-making regarding their care as their needs change.”
Along with this 200,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art health center, Southminster’s $140 million expansion included 86 new apartments that increased total Independent Living residences by 27 percent. Southminster had been fully occupied for about four years prior to the groundbreaking, and their waitlist doubled during construction.
Never willing to slow down, Southminster has now embarked on its next strategic plan, “Driving Toward Excellence 2022-2035.” It encompasses objectives ranging from diversity, equity and inclusion to technology and data analytics, land acquisition and cultivating innovation. According to Lisa McClellan, Vice President of Human Resources, “Our eye will always be on staffing and recruiting initiatives, but we are increasing our focus and energy toward employee retention and engagement. COVID took its toll on gatherings and engagement opportunities, so we are redesigning our HR priorities to fit the needs of our people.”
Immediate construction within the most recent strategic plan includes renovating two dining rooms and the main corridor beginning in January 2023. Southminster will also implement a new master site plan that includes outdoor amenities such as outdoor patios and fire pits, walkways, and exercise spaces.
Part of the plan in this new era of senior living involves philanthropy and making an impact on the broader community. Tracy McGinnis, Southminster’s Vice President of Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives, reports that since its inception, Southminster’s fund has distributed over $13 million in financial support to residents living on its South Charlotte campus. Since expanding its philanthropic mission more than six years ago, Southminster has given over $3 million in philanthropic support to various non-profits across Charlotte Mecklenburg.
Southminster recently announced a collaboration with The Ivey, a Charlotte non-profit devoted to serving individuals living with early memory or cognition concerns and their caregivers through programs designed to optimize brain health for aging well. It also strengthened its partnership with The Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte, a local non-profit with a mission that includes offering lifelong learning, free transportation, and Medicare counseling to seniors across Mecklenburg County. “We believe in collaborating with like-minded organizations to accelerate impact across all generations through education, the arts, and building healthy communities in Charlotte Mecklenburg,” McGinnis said.
According to Ben Gilchrist, Southminster President and CEO, “Our living, breathing strategic plan will enable expanded services to a broader market throughout the region in the years to come. The future is bright indeed.” For more information on Southminster, please visit www.southminster.org.
